Death in Paradise season nine came to an end earlier this year with DI Jack Mooney (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) making his exit. As one detective left though, another arrived in the shape of DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little). There will be even more changes to come though in the next series.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Death in Paradise.

Death in Paradise has already been confirmed for season 10 but a release date hasn’t yet been revealed.

The BBC One drama usually airs in January but given the current worldwide circumstances, there could be a delay in the show’s return.

Actor Little will be back as Neville, acting as the lead of the Honoré Police force for the entirety of series 10.

This time around though, he will be joined by a previous detective sergeant who left the show in series eight.

DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) left Death in Paradise after working with both DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and DI Mooney.

At the time, she was engaged to Patrice Campbell (Leemore Marrett Jr) but after he was murdered during an investigation, Florence was left heartbroken.

Unable to continue living where the love of her life was killed, Florence made the life-changing decision of leaving.

But to fans’ delight, it has been confirmed Florence will be making a comeback in season 10.

Will Josephine Jobert have an early exit in Death in Paradise season 10?

In a statement regarding Florence’s return, the BBC said: “As well as the usual baffling murders, intriguing puzzles and famous guest stars, viewers can expect
some huge surprises as the show celebrates a decade as one of the most loved British dramas – and these surprises begin with the return of DS Florence Cassell, played by audience favourite Josephine Jobert.

“Florence thinks she’s ready to get back to work after her fiancé’s death two years ago – but she hasn’t banked on her new boss, Neville.

“As she tries to understand his peculiarities, sparks are bound to fly…”

While viewers are looking forward to seeing actress Jobert back on their screens, there are now questions over just how long she will be back on the show.

Jobert was asked by a fan on Instagram if her character Florence was now back to being a permanent member of the Death in Paradise cast.

In response, the actress replied: “Permanently? I don’t know yet. And I appear very early in the episodes.”

Details of Jobert’s contract with Death in Paradise has not been released so it is not confirmed if the actress will remain throughout season 10.

This decision may have not been determined just yet so viewers could have to wait until the series comes out to find out.

While Jobert will be reprising her role as Florence, two key characters will be making their exits.

DS Madeleine Dumas (Aude Legastelois) and Officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos) are no longer going to be part of the show.

How they will make their departures from Death in Paradise has not been revealed so could it tie in with Florence making a comeback?

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
