Student adds only other man with his name on Facebook then spots odd coincidence

A student added what he believes is the only other man in the world with his name on Facebook – before the pair met and discovered a very strange coincidence.

Ben Codrington, 21, stumbled upon another man with his name while browsing Facebook after a boozy night out.

The Geography student, from Kent, was immediately drawn to adding him as a friend after spotting they were both wearing banana costumes in their profile picture.

But the coincidences didn't end there – the pair then decided to meet up and saw British Ben travel 3,600 miles to Canada meet the man who turned out to be his doppelganger.

The two men discovered they are both the same age, born weeks apart and had the exact same hobbies.

Both Bens love performing comedy and playing video games and were born two months apart.

The now forever friends talk all the time and have shared a selfie they took of their meeting, telling the world "This is what Facebook was made for".

British Ben said: "I started talking to him after being drunk in the park when I found out that both of us were wearing banana costumes in our Facebook profiles.

"I messaged him after a couple of drinks and said I was coming to meet him.

"He invited me out for a meal and a drink at a place called Warehouse in downtown Toronto.

"We both decided to meet up cos we both thought that it would be fun, and we would both get a funny story out of it.

"We both have a very similar sense of humour and both found the whole idea of meeting up equally amusing, we both are interested in travelling and going places.

"We both grew up in major cities and lived urban lifestyles, we both moved away from home for university, to universities which roughly had the same entrance requirements.

"We are both the same age, he is two months older than me, and we seemingly preferred talking about random Rap music rather than a conversation about getting to know each other.

"I definitely had a good time."

Toronto Ben said: "I couldn't believe that one minute we were messaging online and a few days later we were having a drink together in my hometown.

"My friends all think it's mad.

"I'm glad Ben decided to travel hald way across the world to meet me – we're friends for life now."
