Bob Newhart Reveals the Secret to His Successful Marriage with Wife Ginny After 57 Years

Bob Newhart is opening up about his long-lasting marriage to wife Ginny!

During a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the 91-year-old comedian and actor revealed the key to his 57-year-long marriage to Ginny, 79.

“There’s something about laughter and the longevity of a marriage,” Bob shared.

Bob was introduced to Ginny by a friend back in the early ’60s. They married on married on January 12, 1963 and have four kids – sons Robert and Timothy, and daughters Jennifer and Courtney. They also have 10 grandchildren.

After starting out doing stand-up comedy in the ’60s, Bob transitioned into acting and starred on his own sitcom The Bob Newhart Show. After starring in several TV shows, Bob appeared in movies including Catch-22 and Elf.

Bob also made six appearances over the course of The Big Bang Theory, for which he won his first Emmy Award in 2013.

A few months ago, actor James Caan explained why an Elf sequel will never happen.
