Naga Munchetty: BBC Breakfast host reacts as fan queries ‘tough’ new role minus ‘sidekick’
Naga Munchetty apologises for cutting off news host
Naga Munchetty regularly fronts BBC Breakfast alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt. She has this month also joined BBC Radio 5 Live, presenting three days a week in the mid-morning slot formerly filled by Emma Barnett.
The 45-year-old has kept her spot on the Breakfast sofa from Thursdays to Saturdays.
A social media user has since taken to Twitter and quizzed Naga on life without having a co-host, claiming it must be “tough”.
The person in question wrote: “How are you finding the new show Naga? It must be tough doing three hours off your own back without a sidekick.
“I had a feeling in the summer when you had a go, that you’ve found your perfect position to do what you do best. Massive respect to your team – it’s a must listen!”

Naga admitted she’s loving her new role as a radio presenter but was quick to add she feels “fortunate” to continue hosting Breakfast.
In view of her 237,000 followers, the BBC host gushed: “Love my new show and @bbc5live team. Also absolutely love being on @BBCBreakfast and the team there. Feel very fortunate.”
The social media user added: “You’re doing a good job Naga – keep going!”
Naga’s Radio 5 Live features news, experiences and big-name interviews from around the UK.
Earlier this week, Naga issued an apology to her new colleague Nick Hatfield, after she accidentally cut him off.
As the journalist delivered an update on the latest news, the Breakfast host accidentally cut him off as she began pressing random buttons in the studio.
As Nick wrapped up the headlines, Naga remarked: “Nick, I’ve got to say sorry. Do you know what I did?”
“You pressing buttons you shouldn’t have by the looks of it,” Nick replied.

Naga told her colleague: “I do like pressing a button, particularly buttons I’m told I’m not allowed to push.
“But I pressed the talk back button and didn’t realise. It’s the button we press when we try to talk to our studio managers or studio directors or producers so we’re not heard.
“But I wasn’t meant to touch that one, I was meant to touch the cut one and I touched the wrong one. But you know I’m learning and I’m sorry.”
Nick joked that Naga was “bored” with the information he had read out.
Elsewhere, the broadcaster treated herself to a nice meal as she explained being alone for the evening.
Naga, who is married to James Haggar, shared a snap of her food via Instagram.
“Very rarely do I bother putting together a meal that is more than functional when eating alone. I find it difficult to make the effort for just me,” the BBC host stated, in view of her 38,000 followers.
She added: “Very glad I treated myself this evening #lucky.”
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am and Naga Munchetty airs on BBC Radio 5 Live Monday-Wednesday at 10am.
