Nigel Farage warns Democrats against impeaching Trump
Nigel Farage warns Democrats they are making ‘historic mistake’ by impeaching Trump because ‘martyring him’ risks someone ‘far worse’ filling his shoes creating an ‘organised Far Right party’ fostering ‘chaos and disorder’
- The Brexiteer said trying to remove the President would only sow more division
- He said it could lead to a far-right force in American politics, split from the GOP
- Trump this week became the first president in history to be impeached twice
Nigel Farage has warned US Democrats their impeachment proceedings risk ‘martyring’ Donald Trump and fuelling the rise of an organised far-right party.
The Brexiteer said trying to remove the President before he leaves office next week would be a ‘historic mistake’ and only stoke further tensions in America.
‘There’s a real danger that someone far worse in the Democrats’ eyes than President Trump will come along as a big political figure,’ he said in a video posted to Twitter.
‘A real danger that you see an organised far-right political party in the USA as they split off from the Republicans.
‘And a real danger that a non-acceptance of legitimacy – a complete refusal to accept the way their president has been silenced and impeached – will lead to chaos and disorder continuing in America.’

Trump this week became the first president in history to be impeached twice, this time for inciting an insurrection after his supporters stormed the Capitol in a raid that left five dead.
Democrats are hoping their articles of impeachment will pass in the Senate, where a two-thirds majority vote is needed to turf him out of the White House and ban him from standing for the presidency again.
Conviction at the Senate would require 17 Republicans to vote with the Democrats, making it unlikely.
But Mr Farage, who is a friend of Trump and stumped for him during the election, said the impeachment process in itself would enrage his ‘tens of millions of voters’.
He said impeachment would give the President a ‘sainthood’ status among his base, who view politicians in Washington DC as ‘their enemy’.
‘They’re people who have absolutely no trust in the mainstream media, their people whose distrust in social media is growing very quickly,’ Mr Farage said.

Trump’s supporters are reeling from Twitter’s ban of his account and an election defeat the president baselessly claims was ‘stolen’.
Mr Farage added: ‘If you martyr Trump, if that’s what the establishment does, not only does it, in the eyes of those tens of millions in to some form of sainthood, but they lead to a situation where to silence Trump, something else will come along to head up those tens of millions of people.’
Mr Farage, who recently rebranded the Brexit Party as the Reform Party, believes that last week’s Capitol invasion will not define Trump’s presidency nor eclipse achievements, such as diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.
