Fun fact: Rob Gronkowski is only 31 – the same age as Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, his quarterback, Tom Brady, is twelve years older, yet has one less retirement under his belt.
Coming off a dominant, two-touchdown performance in the Buccaneers’ victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 2021, Gronkowski made it clear that he has no interest in retiring again, after doing so once the 2018 season ended. He made it clear that Brady will also be back – and even suggested that the 43-year-old could outlive him in the NFL.
“Tom’s probably going to go to like 55 years old if he could,” Gronkowski said, according to CNN. “I’m a year-to-year guy.”
Gronkowski is a free agent, but has maintained his interest in returning to the Buccaneers. If Brady has a say – and why shouldn’t he, after leading the franchise to their second Super Bowl championship – one suspects the Bucs will figure something out.
Brady originally said he would play until 45, but suggested before the Super Bowl that he would consider playing longer if he could. He only has one year left on his contract, but the Bucs could give him an extension if he wants to stick around.
