Corrie spoilers: Steve discovers main character is his daughter in shock twist?
Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is about to get the shock of his life as it has been alleged he will discover that Emma Brooker may in fact be his daughter.
Emma arrived on the cobbles in 2018 and it has long been a fan theory she may be Steve’s daughter because of her similarities to his ex-wife Fiona, played by Angela Griffin.
But now sources close to the show have told The Sun that two decades after Fiona left Coronation Street, the character will drop a bombshell announcement in a storyline that has ‘huge implications for Steve’.
Fiona and Steve dated but she later had an affair with his dad Jim, which was revealed on her wedding day to Alan.
After being jilted at the altar, Fiona and Steve rekindled their romance and raised her and Alan’s son, but he cheated on her with Maxine and Fiona decided to pack her bags and left the street.
In 2018 Angela hinted that if she ever were to return to the soap, her storyline would have to involve Steve, while actress Alexandra Mardell, who plays Emma, previously told Metro.co.uk that she has a big storyline on the horizon which will see Emma in a lot of trouble.
Alexandra won over fan hearts as the ditzy but lovable Emma who is often portrayed as a comedy character but speaking to Metro.co.uk at the British Soap Awards, she revealed there are some more serious and darker times ahead for her beloved character this summer.
‘There’s going to be some serious stories coming this summer, so it would be good to see how she handles these situations when she’s in trouble, see if she still finds it funny then,’ she said.
ITV had no comment to add when contacted by Metro.co.uk.
