ITV soap fans have watched Abi Franklin (played by Sally Carman) struggle with grief ever since the death of her son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) earlier this year. Last week on Coronation Street, Abi was devastated after hearing Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) was found not guilty of Seb’s murder. However, in upcoming scenes on the soap, Seb’s father will arrive on the cobbles. Will Abi team up with her ex as she plots revenge against Corey?
In a recent interview, Abi actress Sally confirmed ex-EastEnders actor Stephen Lord had been cast in the role of Seb’s father.
The soap star revealed she’s already filmed Coronation Street scenes with Stephen.
However, Sally made it clear that their relationship is a tricky one as Abi isn’t a fan of Seb’s dad.
“He’s a wrong’un,” the actress said. “I like what they did with that.”
Sally went on to hint at what fans can expect as Seb’s dad makes his dramatic arrival on the soap.
She said: “There were more scenes we were meant to do together – with me and Stephen Lord, who plays him, but because I got ill, they were re-written.
“It was good because the audience are left with no doubt that Abi doesn’t like him and has no time for him, but she simply knows he can help her with something that isn’t emotional.
“In the scenes that I have done so far, he’s trying to worm his way in and she’s like, ‘Do one.’
“I love when Corrie starts bringing different characters in, it’s awesome. It pads out Abi even more, and I love it,” she told Digital Spy.
Back in May, Seb was killed after Corey and his friends beat him and his girlfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) in a horrific hate crime attack.
The murder trial came to a shocking conclusion last week, with Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) being found guilty while Corey was acquitted.
Abi broke down in Seb’s memorial garden on Friday night, as she struggled to deal with the trial’s devastating conclusion.
Could Seb’s father be coming to Coronation Street as a result of the murder trial’s outcome?
He may want to seek revenge on Corey after the court failed to deliver justice for Seb.
Abi has already hinted she wants revenge as in Friday night’s episode she discussed her emotions with neighbour Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo).
Distraught after the trial’s conclusion, Abi exclaimed: “Nothing matters. Nothing changes.
“You do a bad thing, there’s no consequences. Bonk your ex, leave your fella, take drugs, get drunk, kill someone,” she added.
Imran attempted to encourage the grieving mother to return home, but Abi refused.
Abi said: “No, I can’t be indoors, I need space. I feel like if I go back there things will turn normal and I don’t want normal.
“Something has got to change. Something has to happen. Something big that matters to shake this stupid world up,” she exclaimed.
Could Abi and Seb’s dad end up putting their differences aside and team up against Corey?
The former couple could end up plotting revenge against the young murderer, in a bid to get justice for their late son.
Viewers will have to tune in to find out what lengths Abi and Seb’s dad will go to get justice.
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30 pm on ITV.
