Countdowns Anne Robinson turns off Rachel Rileys microphone amid feud
A feud has reportedly erupted on the set of Countdown with host Anne Robinson "switching off" Rachel Riley's microphone prior to filming.
It is claimed that the 77 year old television gameshow personality is frequently coming to blows with the 35 year old Rachel, who was recently diagnosed with PTSD after Strictly and can't watch it ever again.
Former The Weakest Link host Anne reportedly took offence to Rachel – who is pregnant with her second child – being "too loud" while chatting with other contestants ahead of filming in just one recent incident.
It has also been reported that Anne has been left frustrated at Rachel turning up at the last minute to film for the show and constantly being on her phone.
"It's safe to say there's no love lost," a source told The Sun.
The publication added that Rachel was left "furious" after Anne turned off her microphone and was said to have told the rest of the crew that she "completely disagreed" with being silenced.
OK! has contacted representatives for Anne, Rachel and has reached out to Channel 4 for further comment.
This comes hot on the heels of a producer opening up about Anne and Rachel's "toxic feud".
Speaking previously to The Sun about Anne's "dislike of notice and time-keeping", she said: "Anne also has tinnitus and cannot bear excess sound.
"Rachel, with her big heels and even bigger personality, can be quite loud on set. Rachel used to chat to contestants before every show, and Anne found it hugely distracting.
"She felt she couldn't do her job properly or bond with the contestants to help them to relax before the cameras started rolling."
It was added that Rachel is "obviously a professional and never late for filming" and she just "cuts things more fine that Anne".
The producer also claimed that Channel 4 was "secretly thrilled" at the battle as it "can only boost ratings further".
Anne took over the reins of the Channel 4 series on Monday 28th June.
The former The Weakest Link host leads the show's first-ever all-female team for five episodes a week, alongside current stars Rachel and Susie Dent.
