Horse with 'abnormally large testicles' turns into winning machine after having them removed
A HORSE who had 'abnormally large testicles' has turned into a winning machine since having them removed.
Morethannumberone was put up for sale by Australian trainers John and Gary Moore for a relative snip at just under £17,000 last January.
Originally bought for £212,000, the horse's huge balls 'caused restriction' when he raced.
After just one win in 15 attempts, Morethannumberone was flogged to Michael Costa.
He decided a gelding operation was in order – and the procedure has totally transformed the horse.
The five-year-old hosed up in a race last July, lost by a narrow margin later that month then went onto record back-to-back victories in August and September.
Costa – who has another horse called Manhood – said it has been anything but a testy time with the well-behaved gelding.
He said: "I was expecting for him to arrive with them huge and dragging off the truck but in all honestly but they weren’t that big.
"I don’t know what the story was there but we were happy to buy him and geld him and the main thing was about giving him a good spell and getting some good condition into him."
Big things were expected of Morethannumberone.
But a disappointing run of form in lucrative Hong Kong races was matched by his disappointing performances in Australia.
Former owner Barry Lee decided he wanted to sell up, and pulled no punches in the description of the horse at the sales.
The horse's description read: "Morethannumberone has been a model of consistency this preparation with plenty more to give to his new connections.
"His current owner has elected to go to auction with Morethannumberone as he has not qualified for Hong Kong importation.
"Having been reluctant to geld Morethannumberone, it is believed that his new connections may reap the reward from the removal of his abnormally large testicles, that have been deemed to cause restriction.
"Morethannumberone is straight forward to train, clean limbed and rarely will leave feed.
"He has performed and trained well, and without any hindrance, with the utilisation of a tongue tie and cross-noseband."
