Damning Kane says Spurs have not progressed in five years after letting two-goal lead slip against Olympiakos – The Sun
HARRY KANE says Tottenham are making the same mistakes now as they did when Mauricio Pochettino first took charge in 2014.
The Spurs striker delivered a damning verdict on his manager and team after they threw away a 2-0 lead in their Champions League opener at Olympiakos on Wednesday night.
Kane, 26, said: “That's the hard part to get your head around because we're not young any more, we're not inexperienced. We've played in a big games for club and country.
"I can see why the manager is frustrated because he's been here for six years now and we're still making similar mistakes to the ones we were in his first year.
“We've got to find a way to get around it, improve and get better. That's all we can try to do.”
Pochettino ripped into his players after the 2-2 draw, accusing them of lacking fight and not following his game plan.
Kane said: “The game was frustrating. We didn't play well to begin with but we found ourselves 2-0 up with two good goals and away from home that's a great position.
“After that we started to play a little bit better, but obviously conceding a goal before half-time killed the momentum.
“At half-time, the gaffer said the players need to respect their positions more, whether it's staying wider or not everyone coming into to try to get the ball. We tried to do that.
