Police alerted after Tory MP Anna Soubry called a 'Nazi' by pro-Brexit yobs outside Parliament
POLICE were alerted after an aggressive far-right mob branded a pro-EU Tory MP a “Nazi” outside Parliament.
Protesters could be chanting the vile abuse at former Cabinet minister Anna Soubry as she was interviewed by the BBC live on air yesterday.
The MP – who is calling for another referendum – described the sick abuse as "seriously worrying".
The Met Police confirmed they are investigating the abuse after more than 50 MPs called for protection.
Mrs Soubry, 63, blasted: "I’m told that we should get used to it, but we shouldn’t have to.
"Apparently it’s democracy in action and the Crown Prosecution Service believe that no offences are being committed."
Protesters could be heard chanting "Soubry is a Nazi, Soubry is a Nazi" as she was interviewed on College Green, Westminster.
She fumed: “I just think this is astonishing, this is what has happened to our country.”
"I don’t have a problem with people demonstrating and making their views heard.
"I have a real problem with people who call me a traitor or ‘Soubry, you Nazi’.
"That is a criminal offence and I’m a criminal barrister."
"I’m also a lass from Worksop, so I don’t get scared by these people or intimidated. I was a reporter during the miners’ strike, so I don’t feel physically intimidated.
"My difficulty is I want to respond and you mustn’t, so I’m really behaving myself.”
More than 50 MPs have written to Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick to express their "serious concerns" about the "deteriorating public order and security situation" outside Parliament.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police received a third-party report of a public order offence on Monday, January 7, in the area of College Green, SW1.
"Officers are assessing if any crimes have been committed. There has been no arrest at this stage."
