German youth star Oliver Batista-Meier wanted by Brazil, warns agent
GERMANY could lose one of their brightest talents – to Brazil.
Oliver Batista-Meier, 17, has national team coaches raving after some sterling performances at Under-17 level.
His agent Thies Bliemeister has come out in the press and hinted that the Bayern Munich man should be playing for the U21 side.
And Bliemeister has warned the German FA that they should "be careful" not to let the wonderkid slip through their fingers.
Speaking to Bild, Bliemeaister said: “The DFB must be careful that they don’t lose Oliver.
"He can also play for Brazil, and they would love him for their U21 national team.
“Why shouldn’t such a player be nominated for the U-21 side and skip some years?"
Batista-Meier, who plays primarily as a left-winger, has played for Bayern up to U19 level, where he scored 11 goals last season.
Prior to this he really made the headlines when he netted 22 goals in just 17 games for the club's U17 outfit.
This summer he signed a new long-term deal with Bayern, but the club refused to reveal the exact duration of this.
