Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek opens door for potential return to Crystal Palace on loan
RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK has opened the door for a potential return to Crystal Palace on loan.
But the England midfielder is on a mission to improve tactically and persuade Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to give him more opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
Loftus Cheek, 22, has played a total of just 33 minutes for Chelsea this season in games as a substitute against Huddersfield and Bournemouth.
Gareth Southgate handed the player his ninth senior cap and a 61-minute run-out in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Switzerland at Leicester.
Loftus-Cheek spent last season at Palace and asked if he would consider a return to Selhurst Park, he said: “Possibly but it is still far away – there are still a lot of games to play and I just have to see what happens.
"Right now I am at Chelsea and my focus is at Chelsea and learning at Chelsea. That is in the future and we will deal with that when it comes.
"It is just down to me working hard in training, I don't know whether I am going to play or not play but for me it stays the same.
"I will still train well and do everything the right way in case I do play."
Regarding his dealings with new boss Sarri, along with assistant and club legend Gianfranco Zola, Loftus-Cheek added: "We had a lot of talks in the past couple of weeks and he said to me that I need to learn tactically so a lot of my focus and effort is learning his tactics and his ways in training.
"I think the quicker I get that, then I will get more opportunities to play.
