James Argent doing really well after suffering bad relapse amid his addiction recovery

James Argent, affectionately known as Arg, is reportedly "doing really, really well" despite experiencing a scary relapse in his drink and drug addiction recovery earlier this month.

The TOWIE star, who has undergone quite the dramatic life change after having a gastric band surgery, unfortunately suffered a serious blip in his sober journey and ended up being visited by paramedics in an ambulance.

Despite the difficulties he faces in a lifelong bid to leave behind alcohol and drugs forever, James, 34, is said to be "nearly back to his best" already.

At the time, James had gone out celebrating and drank all evening before he stopped answering his phone, which prompted much concern from his friends.

They called an ambulance for the reality TV favourite, but thankfully paramedics assessed him and decided he was safe to allow to recover at home.

Since then, James has also spoken out about facing his addiction head-on and attending sessions at the local walk-in rehab service.

A source told The Sun: "James is doing really, really well.

"He's nearly back to his best and considering how bad things were a week or so ago everyone is pretty stunned at how he's turned things around."

"But James is a fighter," they continued. "His recent blip was exactly that, a blip, and he has no intention of letting it turn into a longer term period of illness."

OK! has contacted a representative for James for comment.

The star told the publication only days after his relapse that the events had made him realise he will never stop being addicted to drugs and alcohol.

After attending a comedy night in London with some friends, James had suffered "cravings" and started off with just one drink during the afterparty.

"Addicts always say one drink is never enough – if it was, I wouldn't be an addict – but unfortunately it just escalated from there," he said.

"After that, I can't get into the specifics of what I did, but that's where it all started and I ended up at home having an awful relapse."

"I'd been clean and sober for such a long time, it hit me like a ton of bricks as my body and mind hadn't been used to it for so long," the TV personality added.

James had started to believe that after successfully completing his weight loss regime and regaining the confidence in his appearance and body that he'd been "cured" and he could be in "control".

Sadly, that wasn't the case, and the star has finally realised he will have to "deal with" his addiction forever.
