Steph's Packed Lunch in chaos as show drops off air after 'someone pulls the plug out'

STEPH'S Packed Lunch was plunged into chaos today as it disappeared from screens mid show.

The live Channel 4 programme experienced a technical issue that had confused viewers scratching their heads.

Confronted by colourful stripes on their screens instead of host Steph McGovern, one wrote on Twitter: "Ooh dear what happened to Channel 4. Especially during #stephspackedlunch."

Another asked: "What just happened??"

A third wrote: "What’s going on @Channel4 ?#stephspackedlunch."

It's been a day of TV woe, with ITV's This Morning and Loose Womeninterrupted by a separate security alert.

Stars from both shows were evacuated from the channel's studios in White City.

Wood Lane and White City directly opposite Television Centre Studios were closed off after a "suspicious item" had been reported.

And all live shows transferred to pre-recorded compilations amid the chaos.

When This Morning returned from a break at 12.14pm, the titles ran again with Holly and Phil in an old video.

Phillip told viewers in a clip recorded in case of an emergency: "Welcome to This Morning. As we can't be with you live today we have lined up some of our best bits to enjoy."

The hosts gave no sign that they would not be back live after the adverts, with Holly saying: "See you after the break."

But they didn't return, with the 'emergency' show airing in place of live action from the studio.

The trouble continued, with a pre-recorded episode of Loose Women airing in place of the advertised live show.

A caption appeared at the bottom of the screen reading: "This is a pre-recorded programme."

This Morning has since apologised for the break in usual programming.
