EastEnders star addresses her future in the show amid dramatic Chelsea story
Since taking over the role of Chelsea Fox in EastEnders in 2020, Zaraah Abrahams has certainly seen some drama for her character.
Most notably, of course, was her part in the long-running Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) story as Chelsea found the strength to fight back against the murderous abuser and ultimately see him face justice.
Since then, Chelsea briefly enjoyed a quieter life in Albert Square but has still been a huge part of Walford life as we’ve seen her developing friendship with flatmates Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Felix and Finlay Baker (Matthew James Morrison and Ashley Byam), and of course her often difficult relationship with her mum Denise (Diane Parish).
Recently, she has become involved in another relationship with a toxic man, as Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) has targeted her after being rejected by Denise.
Despite everyone warning her about Ravi, Chelsea has insisted on seeing his good side, including his relationship with his son, Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury).
‘She’s seen the connection between Ravi and Nugget, she’s seen that Ravi’s really trying to do good for him and provide a life Nugget deserves and undo some of the terrible things he’s done in the past to Nugget,’ Zaraah told us, adding that Ravi is very clever in the way he tries to win Chelsea round.
‘He manages to do that by showing her a different side of him and telling her things she wants to hear – talking about commitment and the future, dismissing his past his past as much as he can… giving her the eyebrows and a wink and smooching her! He’s a pretty convincing guy.’
While Ravi’s original motivation was to make Denise jealous, he and Chelsea are developing genuine feelings for each other now and the storyline still has a long way to go.
The flash-forward episode, which gave us a glimpse of some high drama that will happen next Christmas, showed that Denise is very much central to events as one of the six women who are faced with a dead body in the Vic – and Ravi could well be the victim.
Zaraah Abrahams recently told Inside Soap that she has no plans to leave EastEnders, either, and is set to be very much a part of the action as the year heads towards that gripping climax.
‘I’ll stick with EastEnders,’ she insisted when asked if she would consider joining another soap.
‘I feel as though I’ve landed on my feet playing Chelsea,’ she continued. ‘I love working in Peggy’s because so many other characters come in and the boss is always changing.’
She also revealed she’s a big fan of the EastEnders set and especially the part of it that Chelsea shares with Whitney, Felix and Finlay.
‘Living in No 1 is great too, it’s one of the sets that feels like a home — so I’m doing well there!’ she enthused.
