Amanda Holdens ‘shady’ post causes stir as Phillip Schofield quits This Morning
Louise Van der Vel boycotts This Morning due to Phillip Schofield
Amanda Holden, 52, has divided fans with a cryptic Instagram post following the news that Phillip Schofield has stepped down from hosting This Morning.
On Saturday afternoon, Schofield, 61, revealed that he was quitting the ITV morning show, following rumours that he and co-host Holly Willoughby were feuding.
Straight after Phillip announced his departure, Amanda took to her Instagram feed to post a cryptic image, which some fans claimed was a “shady” dig at her former This Morning colleague, whom she had previously been embroiled in a feud with.
The image that Holden shared with her two million Instagram followers was of a flexed bicep emoji on a black background, which she shared without any explanation or caption.
It wasn’t long before Instagram users were debating what the Britain’s Got Talent judge meant by this, with many relating the post to her widely reported disapproval of Phillip.

One Instagram user wrote: “This is not the way to do it. Completely unnecessary.”
Another said: “You’re in your 50s. This is just being childish. Embarrassing.”
A third didn’t hold back and told Holden to “Grow up, you will be next, get dignity”.
However, many other fans enjoyed Amanda’s mysterious emoji-led image.
One user wrote: “Here’s to strong women and men who try and move them on when they try and stand up to them. It’s been a long time coming, but thanks to karma.”
A second said: “Amanda. The shade, the shade!”
A third simply wrote: “This response breaks the internet.”
Back in 2018, Amanda stepped in for Holly Willoughby and appeared alongside Phillip to present This Morning.
The mum-of-three was away filming I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! at the time.
However, it’s been rumoured that Phillip didn’t get on with his temporary co-host and the next time Holly was unavailable for filming, Rochelle Humes was called up to present instead.

While neither Amanda nor Phillip has directly addressed the reported feud, sources behind the scenes claimed that the atmosphere was frosty and that the 61-year-old asked for Humes personally.
A former TV executive reportedly told The Sun: “Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she’d got the gig.”
However, Phillip was quick to respond and later tweeted: “The end of another really sad weekend. When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.
“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin..I just hope you know me better.”
An official ITV spokesperson also disputed the claims and said: “Presenter line-ups on This Morning change regularly. Final decisions are made by producers, not presenters.
“Phillip is a much-loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He’s a consummate professional. Amanda is also held in high regard as a judge on one of our biggest shows.”
In the aftermath of the feud rumours, Amanda told her Heart FM co-host Jamie Theakston in 2019 that Phillip had ignored one of her texts offering to meet up for coffee to repair their relationship.
After 20 years on the This Morning sofa, Phillip announced via his Instagram stories that he was stepping down from the ITV show with immediate effect.
He wrote: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning.
“But recently, This Morning itself has become a story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

ITV has confirmed in a statement that Holly will stay in the presenting chair and be joined by members of the This Morning family.
That means that Phillip’s last appearance on the show took place on Thursday, May 18.
The exit comes after rumours that Holly and Phil have been on-and-off feuding for weeks, with reports stating the pair had “barely been speaking” behind the scenes.
