Ryen Russillo leaves ESPN for Bill Simmons’ The Ringer

Popular sports media personality Ryen Russillo is joining ex-ESPN teammate Bill Simmons’ The Ringer, exclusively, after spending 14 years with the World Wide Leader.

“I grew up on @SportsCenter and then to be on the actual set, my name on a show…have to remind myself at times how cool that is. Excited to try and limit Celts talk to 30mins w/ @BillSimmons,” the Massachusetts native Russillo tweeted Monday.

Russillo over the last year split time between the two outlets, hosting “The Russillo Show” podcast on ESPN and “Dual Threat,” a football-themed podcast, on The Ringer. He also appeared on various other podcasts between both platforms, and will see his role expand with The Ringer, according to Sports Business Daily.

ESPN executives were high on Russillo and there were talks of expanding his podcast role, The Post’s Andrew Marchand reported last week.

The former ESPN radio host initially left Bristol in 2017, months after he was arrested for criminal entry in Wyoming. The case was closed after Russillo paid a $250 fine, and he returned to ESPN the following summer. Around the same time, he teamed up with The Ringer, a sports and pop culture website and podcast network formed by Simmons in 2016.

“Ryen was one of my most talented co-workers when we worked together at ESPN, and I’ve been just as impressed these last 12 months with how easily he fit into everything we’re doing at The Ringer,” Simmons told Sports Business Daily.
