Christine Lampard launches campaign to bring back ITV show Gladiators – with Wolf

Back in the 90s ITV family show Gladiators was a big hit for the channel.

After a less than successful reboot with a new cast of gladiators, the popular programme could be back again.

Lorraine stand-in Christine Lampard has begun a campaign to bring the TV show back – and she wants pantomime bad guy Wolf to join in the action.

Gladiators’ star Wolf, real name Michael Van Wijk, called for the entertainment show to be brought back saying he would love to resume his old role as the show’s bad boy.

Speaking from New Zealand, Michael said: “I have my own gym here. I workout all the time.

“I’m in better shape now than when I was doing Gladiators as I have more time to train.

“To be perfectly honest with you, hand on heart, I could do every single game blind-folded. I’m so fit now, I’m raring to go.

"I would love to do it, I wish the producers would bring it back. You would get all the baby-boomers from the past watching it and you would get a new generation coming up as well.

“It would be a great show for the family again… Please bring it back, I would love to be in it again as a gladiator.”

He added: “I couldn’t imagine going on there and being nice! It just wasn’t me.”

Christine backed his plea, saying: “The campaign begins today here! Bring back Wolf and bring back Gladiators.”
