This Morning viewers confused as ‘cougar’ with water phobia has swimming pool in garden
This Morning viewers were left very confused today during a segment featuring resident therapists, The Speakmans.
The life coaches were joined by 83-year-old Angie McCartney who revealed she had a massive fear of water and hadn’t stepped foot in a swimming pool for years.
After talking through her issues, it turned out the lovely lass had experienced a traumatic event in her childhood when she’d fallen in a giant hole on a beach and very nearly drowned.
This, in turn, had led to her fear of all things water as she admitted she’d avoid setting foot in the sea at any cost.
Thankfully, the pair managed to coax her into getting over her fear and decided it was time she slipped on her swimsuit and overcame her fear.
And it turned out that, despite her fears, she conveniently had a swimming pool in her back garden.
Angie had viewers in stitches as she stepped into the pool with the help of Nik Speakmans and couldn’t help but be a little cheeky.
Just before they got in, she turned to Nik and joked: “I hope you’re going to take your shirt off!”
The sassy lass joked she felt at ease and was on the way to overcoming her fear thanks to Nik and cheekily to his wife, Eva and said: “Can you leave him here, please?”
Viewers at home were left in stitches by Angie’s cheeky antics but were left more confused by the fact she had a swimming pool in her home.
They quickly flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One user wrote: “If I had a fear of water I don’t think I’d have a swimming costume or a f***ing swimming pool in my garden?!”
A second chimed: “Scared of pools but lives in a house with a pool… anyone else confused?”
While a third fan said: “I don’t understand… how are you scared of water but you’re literally got a pool in your back garden? Got to admit, I think she’s bluffing!”
And a final person couldn’t get enough of her flirty antics, adding: “Wow, this Cougar is really going for it with that guy from the Speakmans.”
