Romelu Lukaku greeted by wild Inter Milan fans as he jets in for medical ahead of £76.5m transfer from Man Utd on £300,000-a-week – The Sun
ROMELU LUKAKU arrived in Italy this morning to seal his stunning £76.5m move from Manchester United to Inter Milan.
The Belgian striker has been looking for a switch away from Old Trafford after a torrid season and summer and will triple his earnings to £300,000-a-week.
He was fined two-weeks wages for posting secret player running stats on social media and going AWOL from training.
The 26-year-old had a serious bust-up with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday where he was told to stay away.
But he is now ending his United hell by making the move to Inter, who have beaten Juventus to his signature.
The rebel striker was seen on private jet all-smiles with agent Federico Pastorello last night.
Talks had been ongoing in London for the past few days to thrash out the deal and put an end to the long-running saga.
Lukaku arrived at Milan airport from Brussels at 2am this morning, where he was greeted by a swarm of journalists.
A group of 500 hardcore Inter fans stayed up throughout the night to welcome him with chants and cheers.
He will today have his medical before joining up with Antonio Conte’s side for their pre-season.
Inter are coughing up a staggering £64.5m up front and the rest will be paid in add-ons and bonuses.
Lukaku had been training with old club Anderlecht’s youth team to keep fit this week after the row with Solskjaer.
According to the Times, he will sign a five-year deal worth £300,000-a-week at Inter Milan.
It is a huge increase on his basic pay of £115,000-a-week at United, but bonuses top that up.
On top of that Everton will get £5m in sell-on fees, after inserting a clause in his deal when he joined for £75m in 2017.
