Matthew Perry 911 dispatch call gives clue into Friends stars cause of death
Friends star Matthew Perry dies aged 54
A 911 call made from Matthew Perry’s home on the night he died references “drowning” just before responders arrived to find the actor unresponsive in a jacuzzi.
The 54-year-old, best known for portraying Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom Friends, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday.
Certain phrases within the dispatch audio, obtained by TMZ, have given the clearest indication yet about the star’s cause of death.
The words “rescue 23” are heard in the partially bleeped-out 16-second-long recording – a likely reference to the local fire station that was assigned to the call. The word “drowning” can also be heard.
The audio clip comes after emergency services found the American-Canadian performer in a jacuzzi at his home.

Police had responded to a call to Matthew’s residence at around 4pm, where he was found unresponsive, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The publication added that there were no illicit drugs on the scene and no signs of foul play.
However, prescription drugs, including anti-anxiety and anti-depressant pills, were found inside the home, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
Los Angeles Police Captain Scot Williams, who is currently investigating Matthew’s death, said his exact cause of death would not be known for a while.
