Road Test
This week I try …a fitness facial
The lowdown Larissa Thomson, Sarah Bryden-Brown and Naomi Watts are behind the original Onda in New York. My Onda Facial Fitness treatment is with Catherine, who moved from New York to bring this facial to Sydney. It is designed to release muscle tension using a combination of deep massage, lymphatic drainage and pressure points to help tone muscles and improve the skin’s vitality.

The manipulation increases circulation, brings oxygenated blood to the muscles and gets rid of toxins. Catherine has a lot to play with as I hold a lot of tension in my face.
Pain factor There was a bit of pummelling but it never felt painful. My muscles felt as if
they’d had a solid workout and were a bit sensitive to the touch, but in a good way.
Downtime 90 minutes.
Results I felt rejuvenated. My face was glowing and lifted for days.
Where to get it Sydney: Onda Beauty, ondabeauty.com.au. Cost: $290. Melbourne: Marci Wellness (Lift Facial, 75 minutes), marciwellness.com.au. Cost: $159. At home: De Mamiel Antioxidant Elixir (ondabeauty.com.au, $200).

Trend: Fragrant Offerings
It is almost impossible to choose between Santal Blanc’s irresistible sandalwood with fig milk and powdery musk, L’Artisan’s fresh and woody unisex scent, and Burberry’s blackberry and cherry notes. Good luck!

We all know hair needs protecting from heat-styling products. Redken Extreme Play Safe (adorebeauty.com.au, $36) fits the bill as it’s a leave-in protectant containing plant protein and tourmaline. These ingredients shield your hair from the onslaught of heat-styling tools, which can hit temperatures as high as 230°C. Apply it to clean, damp hair before revving up your tools.

Ask Stephanie
What is the correct way to use a beauty blender sponge when applying foundation? Soak it first in water, squeeze it out, then put it in a towel and squeeze again. This stops the sponge from absorbing too much foundation. Dip the sponge into the foundation and apply to your face with a soft, bouncing action.
