This Summer Vacation Workout Gives You a Challenge Without Wrecking Your Day
While gyms are largely back open after a long time off, our Men’s Health Live workout sessions are still going strong. Every day at 12 pm ET, a world-class trainer takes over the MH Instagram for an accessible group class to make sure everyone has a chance to get their sweat on, not matter where they are.
Bobby Maximus, former UFC fighter, fitness personality, and author of the Men’s Health Maximus Body book, hosted the latest session. Maximus makes a point to train without equipment even when he has a fully-stocked gym at his disposal—so creating an accessible session for guys stuck at home without access to gear fits perfectly to his training style.
With summer holidays and vacations on the horizon, Maximus wanted to show off a workout that can serve as a solid routine when you’re busy and away from your typical gym setup that also won’t tire you out to the point that you’ll ruin your whole leisure plan.
“If you’re on vacation, you don’t absolutely annihilate yourself so you can’t do anything for the rest of the day,” he says. “You can’t wake up at 6 in the morning or 7 in the morning and workout and put yourself in a coma for the rest of the day and be finished.” Instead, Maximus says that your vacation training should “check the box” to help maintain your fitness.
This particular setup will crush your lower body with squats, lunges, and split jumps—but you can also mix up the exercises within the same format. Try for an upper-lower split, or if you have access to a pullup bar, a push-pull session. Whatever you decide, just get moving.
Bobby Maximus’ Triple 30-30 Session
Perform each exercise 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, for four minutes.
Stay up to date with our workouts every single weekday at 12 p.m. ET. Want to keep up with the sessions you’ve missed? Check out the whole collection here.
