A British Royal Is Heading to New York and Toronto This Week
Sophie, Countess of Wessex has a very busy week ahead.
According to the royal family’s official website, the countess has a series of engagements in the coming days, some of which require traveling across the Atlantic.
This weekend, Sophie will accompany her husband, Prince Edward, and her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, to Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, followed by the Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday morning.
And after her official familial engagements, Sophie is set to travel to New York City solo. While there are currently no further details regarding the countess’s trip, it’s also been revealed that she will head to Toronto, Canada after she’s been to the United States.
Sophie married Prince Edward on June 19, 1999, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, now a favorite spot for royal weddings.
According to People, the bride “wore a sleek, sophisticated coat dress in ivory silk inlaid with 325,000 beads by designer Samantha Shaw, along with a black-and-white pearl necklace designed by her fiancé.” Meanwhile, Sophie apparently gave Edward “an 18-karat gold pocket watch” as a wedding gift, which is seriously romantic.
