A Surprising Member of Will Smith's Family Was Especially 'Supportive' of Jordyn Woods Amid the Tristan Thompson Scandal

When Jordyn Woods made headlines last year for allegedly hooking up with Khloé Kardashian’s on-again-off-again boyfriend Tristan Thompson, her friendship with Kylie Jenner took a turn for the worse.

Soon, Woods found herself ousted from Kardashian-Jenners’ inner circle and left with hardly anyone to talk to. But despite Jenner and several other friends turning their backs on the model, her loved ones remained by her side, including Will Smith and his family.

But there’s one member of the talented bunch who helped Woods the most at the height of the scandal — and it wasn’t the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star or his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jordyn Woods’ relationship with the Smith family

Woods’ connection to the Smith family dates back to before she was even born.

Her late father, John Woods, was a sound engineer on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air who had become close friends with Will Smith while working on the show. Soon, Woods’ entire family formed a tight bond with the Smiths.

Not long after the model and Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, were born, they forged a close friendship that is still going strong to this day.

In July 2020, Woods referred to Smith as her “brother for life” in a touching Instagram post in honor of the young actor’s 22nd birthday. Five years prior, Smith gushed about his friendship with Woods while shedding some light on their relationship. 

“Jordyn Is One Of The First People I Ever Met, We’ve Been Friends Since A Few Days After I Was Born And Always Will Be,” Smith wrote on Woods’ Instagram page. “Lexington Lives Through The Spirit Of Sherman Way. Remember This.” 

The Smiths were there for Woods following the cheating scandal

Though Woods has always had a close relationship with Jaden, she also has a tight bond with his famous parents, Will and Jada Smith.

In 2014, Woods referred to the Bad Boys actor as her “uncle” in a sweet Instagram post for his birthday. “Happy birthday to a man who has greatly impacted my life,” she captioned a throwback photo of herself and the actor. “Love you uncle willy.”

On Father’s Day 2019, the model shared another throwback photo of Smith along with a heartwarming tribute.

“Going through pictures and came across this one. This is kind of amazing,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for being a second dad to all of us! Happy Father’s Day @willsmith.”

As for Woods’ relationship with Smith’s wife Jada, they proved how close they are during a March 2019 episode of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk.

After news broke that Woods allegedly had an affair with Tristan Thompson while he was dating Khloé Kardashian, the model appeared on Pinkett Smith’s show to address the allegations and give her side of the story.

Not only did Jada agree with her husband’s sentiment that they will always have Jordyn’s back, but she also showed the model compassion, explaining that she felt Woods was being targeted because of her race.

“You know, being a black woman in the game for so long as I’ve been, just seeing that without people even having heard your side and just not giving the benefit of the doubt,” she said. “It just always seems like it’s so easy to just target black women and put everything on us — even if there’s other people involved.”

Jaden Smith helped Woods get through the drama

Though Will and Jada stood by Woods’ side in the months following the cheating scandal, they actually weren’t the ones who helped her the most during that troubling time.

Instead, the couple’s son Jaden helped Jordyn get through a lot of the drama as he remained by her side while she tried her best to move on from the scandal.

“Jaden Smith has been so supportive of Jordyn Woods and there for her constantly,” an insider told HollywoodLife in June 2019. “When Jordyn ran into [Kendall Jenner, 23] at Coachella unexpectedly, Jaden was the one there to make sure everyone was OK. It’s a little hard and uncomfortable for him just given the nature of the situation, however, he’s happy to be friends with everyone.”
