Alec Baldwin and family get special treatment on Staten Island Ferry after tour ripoff
He may have gotten taken for a ride like a New York City tourist — but Alec Baldwin had the red carpet rolled out for him and his kin while cruising on the Staten Island Ferry.
The “30 Rock” star, wife Hilaria Baldwin and three of their four kids were granted access to a restricted area on the boat to snap a family photo — after complaining to the crew about their almost-failed tour of the Statue of Liberty.
The special treatment was memorialized in a post on Hilaria’s Instagram on Sunday — the same day the volatile actor exploded on his own account about being ripped off by a phony Statue of Liberty tour operator.
“We buy the tickets for the ‘boat tour’ of the Statue of Liberty. We are escorted to a shuttle bus. To New Jersey! I kid you not,” he railed in the post, which include a shot of the tickets which cost $40 apiece.
“We paid. Then we read the tickets. NO ON EVER MENTIONED NEW F***ING JERSEY!!! This is a scam,” he said. “Take the SI Ferry. It’s the best ride in NY.”
The restricted area, which leads to the ferry’s pilot house, is only available to “authorized personnel only” and guarded by a metal gate with warning signs plastered on it.
But, as The Post previously reported, access is permitted “at the discretion of the captain” — despite stringent safety rules put in place following the 2003 ferry crash that left 11 people dead.
The city Department of Transportation, which operates the ferry, said it’s up to the captain to allow passengers into that area but they must be escorted by credentialed personnel.
The Baldwins were let in after he told crew members about their experience getting ripped off by the tour operator, the DOT said.
Reps for the couple didn’t immediately return messages.
