The Biebers have made it official … for the second time. A year after legally marrying in a small civil ceremony, Justin and Hailey Bieber again tied the knot, this time in front of family and friends at South Carolina resort Montage Palmetto Bluff. Read on to learn about everything you need to know about the romantic affair—from all the stars who didn’t attend to the sentimental activities the Biebers planned.
They watched The Notebook and played with water guns during the rehearsal dinner.
TMZ reported that during the rehearsal dinner on Sunday night, the Biebers “made their wedding guests watch The Notebook” (their favorite film) during a “huge sleepover for all their friends and family.” Apparently, the carnival-themed event included ice cream, cotton candy, and capture the flag. Late in the night, the couple surprised their guests with water guns, sources told TMZ.
The couple recreated the night they first met.
According to a source from Entertainment Tonight, the couple set up a pseudo bowling alley in a lounge at the resort—and for a sentimental reason too. The source said they wanted to “recreate the moment” they met. The lounge was also lit up in purple, Justin’s favorite color. Guests filled up the alley after the rehearsal dinner.
“They’re already very happily married so there’s no nerves or cold feet here,” the source told the outlet. “Now it’s just a chance to celebrate their relationship with some of their closest friends. It was very informal and fun!”
The bride’s BFF Kendall Jenner showed off her bowling skills during the party on her Instagram Story.
Nearby residents applauded the nuptials.
A different source from ET mentioned that locals clapped after Justin and Hailey’s wedding ceremony. “Residents from around the neighborhood [that live] close to wedding were cheering loudly when they made it official,” the insider said.
Justin gifted himself an expensive wedding present.
Because, why not? The singer showed off his wedding bling on Instagram prior to walking down the aisle, captioning the photo of his new watch, “Got my self a lil wedding gift.”
According to TMZ, the watch is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 5402BA, a rare vintage watch from the 1970s. (Robb Report estimates that it’s valued at $50,000.) Justin used the same jeweler that the Kardashians go to, Jadelle Beverly Hills.
TMZ also reported that Justin apparently picked up something for Hailey. Although we don’t know exactly what he got her, the outlet said it was from the diamond department.
One of Justin’s exes attended the wedding.
Some Beliebers may remember Caitlin Beadles, Justin’s girlfriend of about a year circa 2008, per Entertainment Tonight. After their breakup, the two remained good friends, evident from her attendance at the Bieber’s South Carolina wedding. She posted some photos from the event to her Instagram Story.
Orlando Bloom snubbed his wedding invite.
The actor’s fiancée, pop singer Katy Perry, attended the wedding ceremony alone, according to the Mirror. Justin and Bloom’s alleged feud began in 2014, when the actor punched Justin at a restaurant in Ibiza, allegedly after Justin began to grow close to his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr. Whatever bad blood lies between them, it didn’t stop Perry from enjoying her night at the South Carolina resort.
Alec Baldwin also skipped the affair.
Hailey’s uncle, actor Alec Baldwin, was also absent from the event, per sources at People. Apparently, Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, were at their New York City home the day of the wedding.
The decorations were fairytale-like.
A source told E! News that the reception was decorated “like an enchanted forest with candles in crystal holders, white twinkle lights and purple lavender flowers hanging from the trees above.”
The insider added, “All of the décor was white. The couches and table set-ups were white with gold accents. The plated silverware also had gold accents. Every table had a bottle of Moët champagne that was crystallized in gold Swarovski crystals with their wedding date and ‘The Biebers’ engraved on it.” There were reportedly several open bars through the ballroom, so you know it was a party.
Hailey “did all the planning,” a source previously told People. “Justin gave his input, but really, all he has to do is show up. He already feels married, so this is just a party.”
Hailey’s cousin caught the bouquet.
And Alfredo Flores, Justin’s friend and music video director, caught the garter, according to E!.
Guests partied until 5 a.m.
The reception lasted until 1 a.m., but the guests continued the party in their suites, hotel game room, and lobby until five in the morning, E! reports. Apparently, some partygoers even got changed into more casual attire at the end of the night.
Kylie Jenner debuted her newfound singleness at the wedding.
According to TMZ, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are taking a break from their relationship. His absence at the wedding was notable, considering Jenner brought her baby daughter, Stormi Webster, as her plus one. The last time the two made a public appearance together was in August for Scott’s documentary premiere.
Some hotel guests were annoyed with how the wedding disrupted their stay.
Apparently, guests staying at the Montage Palmetto Bluff hotel were upset that “some of the most prized areas on the property are being closed off from hotel guests,” according to TMZ. These areas included the spa, a pool, and a restaurant.
