All the Met Gala Looks Twitter is Freaking Out Over: From Lady Gaga to Billy Porter to Harry Styles
From Celine “Dandelion” to a celebrity fans think looks like either a Quidditch Ball or the “Hunger Games” Mockingjay symbol, Twitter was having a field day.
The 2019 Met Gala is finally here and Twitter is losing its mind over all of the campiest looks.
The event, dubbed "Fashion’s Biggest Night," is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art coinciding with the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual exhibit.
This year’s theme is "Camp: Notes on Fashion" with the exhibit examining "how the elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, and exaggeration are expressed in fashion."
As in previous years, stars went above and beyond with the theme. From Lady Gaga‘s multiple costume changes to Harry Styles‘ head-turning look, celebrities truly got creative this year.
Check out all the viral moments below.
Lady Gaga’s Four Outfits
Lady Gaga changed into not one, not two, but four different outfits and ended with a barely-there lingerie look that had fans reeling online.
Billy Porter’s Grand Entrance
It seemed no one could top Gaga. However, Billy Porter made a strong argument for stealing the whole show (and our computer screens) with his grand entrance. The actor, wearing a 24-karat gold headpiece and gold gown with wings, was carried into the event by six shirtless men in gold pants, as he posed on top of a palanquin. Porter’s full look took Twitter by storm.
Celine Dion Looks Like Many Different Things
Celine Dion’s interesting sparkly, fringe gown and headpiece received mixed reviews on Twitter as many people couldn’t help but make jokes about her look. People compared the singer’s outfit to everything from a dandelion flower to Hela from "Thor."
Harry Styles’ Head-turning Look
The singer’s look sent Twitter into a frenzy.
Jared Leto is Head Over Heels For the Met Ball
Jared Leto won the best accessory of the night when he brought a replica of his own head as his plus one. The "Joker" star is known for being eccentric but this year he took it to the next level with his Gucci ensemble.
Kacey Musgraves: The Moschino Barbie
Kacey Musgraves, a.k.a the pop-culture yeehaw queen, had people talking on Twitter before she even arrived at the event. The country singer rocked a bright pink Moschino ensemble, complete with a Barbie convertible. We stan.
Katy the Candelabra
Katy Perry really seems to love her electricity. The "American Idol" judge dressed as a chandelier. We’re not kidding. Perry’s interesting look spawned many hilarious memes on Twitter. However, most people made the same joke and said the singer looked like Lumière from "Beauty and the Beast."
