Amanda Holden shares support for Ruth Langsford amid claims of This Morning ‘feud’ with Phillip Schofield

Amanda Holden has shared her support for This Morning star Ruth Langsford amid allegations of a “feud” between Phillip Schofield and stars of This Morning.

Amanda spoke out amid claims that Ruth, who presents the ITV daytime show with husband Eamonn Holmes every Friday, made an official complaint about Phil.

While speaking on her Heart Breakfast radio show, Amanda addressed the claims while chatting to showbiz presenter Ashley Roberts.

"Lots of buzz around Philip Schofield at the moment. There are reports that things are a little tense between him and Holly Willoughby as well as Ruth Langsford. ITV says it's just gossip and that he and Holly are great friends, both on and off screen," Ashely said.

"If only there was someone here who might be able to help us with that story," joked Amanda's co-host Jamie Theakston.

"Listen, I've drawn a line under all those issues with Phillip," Amanda responded.

"Just give us some kind of…?" Jamie then questioned.

"Well I'm just gonna say that I really admire anyone that sticks up for themselves because it is not an easy thing to do," Amanda said.

"There is a tin opener and there's a can somewhere and other people have found the tin opener. That's all I'm saying," she added.

It comes after reports that Phillip, who has hosted This Morning since 2002, was “furious” after Holly Willoughby landed the role of presenter alongside Declan Donnelly on last year’s I’m A Celebrity while Ant McPartlin was taking a break from television.

A source told The Sun: “Phillip seems to hold huge sway at ITV but there is a growing list of people he’s worked with over the years who, it’s fair to say, are not fans of his… And the cosy, jokey on-screen partnership with Holly is not what it seems.”

However, a spokesperson for ITV denied that there’s any tension between the stars of This Morning.

They said in a statement: “Phillip is a much respected broadcaster. This appears to be a desperate attempt to tarnish his reputation by maliciously motivated gossip.’
