Austin Butler’s ‘Elvis’ Movie Release Date Gets Moved To 2022
Fans are going to have to wait much longer before seeing Austin Butler as Elvis Presley!
It was recently announced that Warner Bros. has pushed back the Baz Luhrmann-directed pic to June 3, 2022.
The movie was originally supposed to be released on November 5, 2021, but since they are still filming it won’t be ready in time, Variety reports.
Sources tell Variety that they still have five more weeks of material to film. They have been in production in Australia, and Austin was seen out and about back in November.
The upcoming film “will explore the life and music of Elvis Presley, seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America.”
Austin will star as Elvis of course, Olivia DeJonge (pictured here) will star as Priscilla Presley and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker. Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham, Kate Mulvany, Dacre Montgomery, Helen Thomson, Luke Bracey, Gary Clark, Jr., Yola, Shonka Dukureh, Shannon Sanders, Lenesha Randolph, Jordan Holland, Kelvin Harrison Jr, and Natasha Bassett round out the cast.
If you missed it, it was just announced that this model has joined the cast to portray Little Richard.
