Billie Faiers reveals daughter Nelly, five, sometimes gets nervous from fan attention – Exclusive

The Mummy Diaries star Billie Faiers has revealed that the show's breakout star – her five year old daughter Nelly – sometimes gets overwhelmed at all the fan attention.

Nelly has become a firm favourite among viewers thanks to her funny one liners and overall brilliant personality.

But Billie revealed in an exclusive interview with OK! online that sometimes Nelly can feel a bit nervous when fans come up to her.

Billie said: “It can be difficult. Sometimes people come up to her in the street and say ‘Oh Nelly you’re a star!' and sometimes it can be a bit much for her. She can get nervous, she doesn’t really know how to react to it. Luckily everyone has always been really nice.”

She added that both she and her husband Greg try to play down her fandom.

She said: "We don’t make a big deal out of it at home, Greg and I laugh at her on screen and we think she is so funny, people do love her, but when we talk to her about it, we try to play it down. We want to keep it so that she has a normal life."

Nelly does enjoy watching herself on the telly though, says Billie, and some of the older girls at her school recognise her from the small screen too.

Billie continued: “She finds it really funny and laughs at watching the show. It’s too late when it’s on but the next day after school we will watch it. She finds it hilarious but she doesn’t like it when she sees herself in a mood in some of the scenes, but I guess none of us do.”

She continued: “Some of the girls that are older in the school watch it and they might say 'oh Nelly we saw you on the telly!' But they are all really cute and sweet.

"Nelly says 'Oh mummy there are some older girls in school and they recognise me from The Mummy Diaries', she thinks it is really funny. She says that they look after her at school.”

And acting could be in Nelly's near future as she’s such a natural performer and comedian, but Billie says right now Nelly dreams of working as an ice cream lady.

She said: “She is so young that when I ask her 'what do want to be when you grow up?' At the moment she says she wants to be an ice cream lady and have her own cake shop. But I do think that Nelly definitely has that confidence where she could be an actress.

"She could be a performer. But I would never push her into it. But she really enjoys it and likes drama and is always telling funny stories to me and Greg. Really cute.”

But Billie confirmed that being a stage mum or ‘momager’ is an absolute no as she says: “No I couldn’t be one of those pushy stage mums, no way! That’s just not me.”

The Mummy Diaries continues to be a big hit, and its most recent episode saw Nelly show off her smashing new school uniform and younger brother Arhtur, two, enter his “terrible twos.”
