Billy Connolly 'not ready' to get back on stage with the 'state his mind is in'
Billy Connolly has revealed he would be keen to get back on a stage and perform live again.
The 76-year-old has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and last performed on stage in 2015 although he is still working on his TV shows.
But in a new interview Billy has shared with fans that although he would love to perform, he is ‘not ready’ and he doesn’t know if he ‘can do it with the state my mind is in’.
‘British comedy is in great shape now. I’d be scared to go on with these [current] guys,’ he said.
Speaking to BBC, he said: ‘I’m old, I’m 76 – my hearing, my eyesight, the way I walk, it’s all beginning to fail. It’s just about accepting what it is. You’ve got trouble getting into bed, trouble getting your socks on.
‘Just deal with it. That’s who you are now. You’re a drooling, limping has-been! Get on with it. Enjoy it.’
The legendary comedian first revealed he had the condition in 2013, heartbreakingly admitting later he felt his life was ‘slipping away’.
The star, who is still working on his TV shows, despite stepping back from performing his stand-up routines due to the condition, said he has ‘good days and bad days’.
Earlier this year Billy bleakly said he felt his life was ‘slipping away’ as he battled the incurable disease.
‘My life, it’s slipping away and I can feel it and I should. I’m 75, I’m near the end,’ he said earlier this year on his documentary Made In Scotland.
‘I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning. But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away.’
