The cameo NO ONE saw coming: Britney Spears was set to star on Home and Away… but actor who plays icon Alf Stewart was NOT happy about it
From Chris Hemsworth to Isla Fisher, long-running soap Home and Away has featured its fair share of Aussie A-listers.
But Christie Hayes, who starred as Kirsty Phillips on the series for over a decade, shocked listeners on her radio show on Tuesday when she revealed Britney Spears was set to play a cameo role on the program back in 2001.
She explained the Baby One More Time hitmaker was booked for the role of a ‘beautiful girl’.

But Christie, 35, said the decision to have Britney on the soap ruffled some feathers with one very iconic cast member – Ray Meagher.
‘Our producer Russel called a cast meeting and said, “Britney Spears wants to be on Home and Away, does anyone object?’, everyone said “yes,”‘ she said with a laugh.
Meagher, who has portrayed Alf Stewart on the series since 1988, expressed concern as he thought her cameo ‘would ruin the illusion of the show.’
Christie however, was upbeat about the popstar appearing on the show and excited about appearing in a scene with her.
