Caroline Flack’s grieving mother took aim at Lewis Burton in Instagram comments

It’s been claimed Caroline Flack’s mother Christine Flack has left comments on Instagram photos posted by the late Love Island presenter’s former boyfriend, Lewis Burton.

An Instagram account which used the handle @ccjep had been seen leaving comments alongside images of Lewis with Caroline – who died by suicide on February 15 – referencing their relationship as well as his recently rumoured relationship with Lottie Tomlinson.

In comments posted three weeks ago, but picked up over the weekend, Christine wrote on a photo of her daughter with Lewis in November 2019: ‘he is now in the same pose different girl’.

She also wrote alongside a photo five months ago: ‘This relationship did end her life,’ before adding: ‘Want this deleted so much.’

Even though former professional tennis player Lewis is yet to publicly address the claims, since the comments came to light in reports over the weekend the images were seemingly deleted from his Instagram on Monday morning.

While the Instagram account linked to Christine is private, it is Metro.co.uk’s understanding it belongs to the grieving mother.

Christine previously opened up on her daughter’s relationship with 28-year-old Lewis, during the inquest into the presenter’s death earlier this month, and also added she was an ‘easy target for cruel people’.

She also criticised whoever was responsible for a photograph from the bloody scene of an alleged assault the 40-year-old celebrity committed on Lewis, which was subsequently leaked to a newspaper.

Her statement did not identify anybody by name, although she told the inquest at Poplar Coroner’s Court in early August that her daughter told her Lewis had taken the photograph and passed it to a former partner.

The inquest heard that Caroline – who has also left a note that said she hoped to ‘one day find harmony’ with her partner – believed Lewis had cheated on her at the time of the attack.

In her statement Christine said: ‘Many people loved and supported Caroline, they know who they are and I thank them all.

‘Many people pretended to love Caroline and took advantage of her kindness and they know who they are.

‘Someone took a photo that night and sent it to another person who sold it to the press – and this devastated Caroline. You know what you did.’

She added: ‘Caroline you were loved. I love you.

‘Those that would have harmed you can’t touch you now.’

She added: ‘Because she was successful and because she was so open about her life and her loves, she became an easy target for cruel and spiteful people who, if they knew the pain they caused, would be ashamed.’

The coroner Mary Hassell found the Love Island star killed herself because she knew she was being prosecuted for assault and could not face the press coverage.

Her mental health deteriorated at the time following her arrest in December.

Lewis’s reps declined to comment.
