Chris Evans, Smash Mouth and Axe — Yes, the Body Spray — Slam Straight Pride Parade Supporters

Evans reminds his followers to “take a moment to search for empathy and growth” … while Axe burns one of its critics.

Chris Evans is a proud Boston boy, but he’s got no love for the planned "Straight Pride" parade being organized in Beantown.

The "Captain America" star was one of the loudest voices against the event, which organizer Mark Sahady said the city was "working" with him on setting up after he filed a discrimination complaint. The event requested the "same accommodations given for the LGBTQ+ parade" when it comes to street closures and floats and aims to "celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community."

On Wednesday, Evans retweeted an article about the parade, while taking shots at the event and everyone involved at the same time.

"Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!! Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The ‘desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children’ parade?" he tweeted. "Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??"

In a followup tweet, he shared author James Fell’s post explaining why he believed the parade was problematic. In his own caption, Evans added, "Wow, the number gay/straight pride parade false equivalencies are disappointing. For those who don’t understand the difference, see below. Instead of going immediately to anger(which is actually just fear of what you don’t understand)take a moment to search for empathy and growth."

Axe, the lifestyle brand known for its body spray, also went viral on Wednesday morning when it distanced itself from the parade as well. After one critic of the event joked that there’d be a giant Axe float at the parade, the company hit back on Twitter. "We’ll be at the parade that matters and this one isn’t it," they wrote.

They also said "Gay rights are human rights but go off Jill" after one woman claimed the company didn’t "support straight people" and was "uninclusive and intolerant."

The most popular tweet so far, however, belongs to Smash Mouth, who became Twitter all stars when they tweeted out: "Straight Pride Parade????? F–K OFF!!!!!!!!"

That message has almost 300k likes.

Other notable names who called out the event included "Star Trek: Discover" star Wilson Cruz, politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, George Takei, Kathy Griffin and comedian Paul F. Thompkins.
