Colton Underwood Details Why Aly Raisman Broke Up With Him
Colton Underwood is detailing his breakup with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman in his brand new book, “The First Time.”
If you don’t know, the couple dated in late 2016 into 2017, and they did say “I love you” to each other. However, two weeks after Aly said it to Colton, she broke up with him over FaceTime.
“In early February, she was finally able to tell me that she loved me. Hearing her say those words in the midst of all that she was dealing with, it made me fall in love with her all over again,” Colton wrote, referencing the abuse she faced at the hands of Larry Nassar.
Two weeks later, they attended a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit event together in Houston, Texas.
“We went to the event, she did press, and we enjoyed our cozy alone time in the hotel. I thought everything between us was fine and good and always getting better. Now, having gone back and looked at photos….I see a troubled look in Aly’s eyes that I wasn’t aware of then. It’s distant. Something else was going on inside her, something that was bigger and beyond me,” Colton wrote.
He noted that after the event, they both said “I love you” at the airport before going their separate ways.
“The next day, as I was driving across town in my jeep, Aly FaceTimed me and ended our relationship.” She told him she was “overwhelmed, confused, and in need of a break.”
In the days after the breakup, he called her best friend Simone Biles, and noted Simone was also “surprised.”
“She was confused and needed a break,” Colton concluded. “There was also the very good chance she decided that I wasn’t right for her.”
Here’s what Colton previously said about the breakup.
