A shocking new documentary has revealed a grim insight into the life of Penthouse magazine mogul Bob Guccione, exposing how he talked young models into performing sex acts and kept them living at his sprawling New York City mansion.
Secrets Of Penthouse is a four-part limited series set to air on A&E and sheds light on the sleazy American baron, who launched the notorious publication to rival Hugh Heffner’s Playboy in 1965.
At the height of his fame and fortune, multimillionaire Guccione – who had an estimated net worth of $400 million at the peak of his success – lived with his third wife, Kathy Keeton, in the largest private residence in Manhattan, which stood at an impressive 22,000 square feet.
Behind the doors of the ginormous stately home, however, much seedier antics were at play, with former Penthouse Pets claiming they were shown bestiality pornography and talked into X-rated acts.

One former Penthouse Pet, Jane Hargrave, claimed that she was made to watch bestiality porn with Guccione while wife Keeton was out of the house.
She was just 18 and ended up living in Guccione’s dressing room for four years in 1975.
‘At a time when Kathy was away for a couple of days, he asked me into the master bedroom,’ she recalled. ‘There was a huge bed in it, it was about double the size of a king.
‘He actually had a video of women, of course, having sex with animals. A girl with a pig. I never realized that pigs had corkscrew c**ks. I think he wanted to shock me or something.’
She added: ‘He started coming into my room and wanting to be intimate to some degree. I wasn’t really sure that I felt that comfortable with that because Kathy was in the other room and I didn’t like the feeling of that going on.’
Guccione was married four times during his life, first wedding Lilyann Becker in his late teens.
He then married British woman, Muriel Hudson, with whom he had four children: Bob Jr, Nick, Tony, and Nina.
After divorcing in 1979, Guccione married his third wife, long-time companion Keeton.
Keeton died of complications from surgery to remedy an obstruction in her digestive tract after a long battle with cancer aged 58.
Hargrave also opened up about starring in Guccione’s box office flop Caligula, a controversial erotic film starring Dame Helen Mirren and John Gielgud, in which he invested $17.5 million of his own fortune.
‘I didn’t know I was going to be sucking someone’s c**k who I’d never met before and I’d never even done that before,’ she said, of appearing in the movie’s infamous orgy scene.
‘I just had my 19th birthday. Little me realizing how unimportant I was from a man I was supposed to trust.’
Humble beginnings: Due to Guccione’s lack of resources in the early days of Penthouse, he personally photographed most of the models. Pictured in 1978

Another former ‘Penthouse Pet,’ Sheila Kennedy, alleged that Guccione asked her to perform a golden shower on his bed.
‘Bob was into some really bizarre stuff that turned him on,’ she said. ‘One night, Kathy was in Europe, and I went down to his bedroom, and I don’t know how he came up with this, but he said, “You know honey, there’s something I’d really love for you to do.”
‘He goes, “Have you ever heard of a golden shower?”‘
Sheila initially refused to carry out the kink act on him because she was a bed wetter in her childhood, so he suggested they took things to the bathtub.
‘He had all of his gold chains on, totally nude, and I just peed on him,’ she said. ‘I just found it such an odd fetish, like who would do that, who likes that? He was totally turned on by it.’

Fired: Sheila Kennedy broke down in tears after alleging she was sacked by Guccione after he talked her into having a threesome with him and his wife, Kathy
Sickened: Guccione’s only daughter Nina was left disgusted after realizing why her dad had Penthouse models taking contraception
Sheila also alleged she was fired from living in the Penthouse mansion after she had a threesome with him and his wife, Kathy, at his request.
‘Eventually, he broke me down,’ she said. ‘It was the first time in my life that I thought, “This isn’t you, you did not have to do this,” but I just knew I was going to be out if I didn’t do it.’
‘If there’s one thing I regret with Penthouse, it’s that,’ she continued. ‘After I was with Kathy, that’s when they fired me. I don’t know why. It shocked me, it really did.’
Guccione’s own children shared somewhat harrowing tales from their formative years.
His only daughter, Nina, recounted how her dad made the Penthouse Pets take contraceptive pills.
‘He would say it makes the girls look more voluptuous before a shoot and it made perfect sense to me because I know your breasts get a little larger,’ she said.
‘But it occurred to me that he was probably trying to prevent the girls from getting pregnant. It’s disgusting, but he didn’t care.’

Guccione was among one of wealthiest people in the world, with Forbes reporting in 1982, that he had a net worth of $400 million.
In April 2002, he was quoted in The New York Times saying that Penthouse grossed $3.5 billion to $4 billion over its three-decade lifespan.
However, by the late 1990s, Penthouse’s circulation numbers began to dwindle, thanks to the rise of free online pornography.
In August 2003, the magazine’s parent company General Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and just two months later Penthouse was put up for sale by creditors.
By November the following year, Guccione had resigned as chairman and CEO of Penthouse International.
Guccione was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and died on October 20, 2010, at the age of 79.
