Former Sister, Sister Star Marques Houston Defends Being TWICE The Age Of His 19-Year-Old Fiancée!
ROGERRRRRRRR!!!!!
The man who played the infamously lovable-but-super-annoying Sister, Sister sidekick is back in the spotlight again years later! And this time, actor Marques Houston isn’t confessing his love for one of the Mowry twins on camera — no, it’s for his real-life fiancée who is just HALF his age!!!
The 38-year-old Sister, Sister alum and singer popped up in the spotlight this week after getting trolled on Instagram for planning to wed 19-year-old Miya Dickey. Speaking out on the social media network Wednesday afternoon in response to some of the hurtful comments hurled his way, Houston defended Dickey, who he says he met “at a Jehovah’s Witness convention” back in 2018.
Sharing a pair of pics showing off the couple’s fun-loving nature, the former sitcom actor wrote a long response calling out the critics and blasting those who spoke negatively of their relationship. He addressed concerns over the age difference, too, denied she ever worked on one of his previous film projects, and noted they weren’t dating while she was underage, adding:
“With all that’s going on in the world, my love life shouldn’t be a topic. But since it is let me just give y’all the facts so you don’t have to ‘allegedly’ believe or create rumors. After reading the Blog that was published about my fiancé and I, I felt with this situation I needed to speak because this is not music or television, this is my family, my future wife and my life. I met Miya in 2018 through a mutual friend. Never before then, did I even know she existed. The fact that she was listed on one of our films was a misprint or someone being messy. Anyone can post on IMDB … Miya and I didn’t start dating until she was an adult. We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019. My dad Michael loves her, and the people I am closest to all love her as well. Most importantly we have Jehovahs blessing ?”
As it turns out, Dickey has long been close friends with the daughter of Chris Stokes, a longtime music producer and talent management exec who has worked with Houston for much of the actor/performer’s career. On a roll at that point, Houston continued on from there, more broadly sharing an admonishment to those seeking something else negative that “can come to light” about the former child star’s life.
He wrote:
“There is so much more to be concerned about in the world, than creating rumors about me. No one ever gets facts anymore, they just run with ‘stories,’ but hey, I guess it comes with the territory ??♂️. So to all the rumors about me, none of it is true! And that’s the story. No twists, no turns, no scandals, just true love. There is nothing that can come to light, because there’s no darkness in my life. You wanted the truth. I don’t have anything to hide, so if you’re waiting for something else, you will be waiting for ever. Please people focus on staying safe through this pandemic. And continue fighting for what you believe in, as long as it is true justice, and the fight is with love, not hate, because we all matter to God ?? and I put God first in all things. I love all who support me and thank you. I won’t let you down. I love y’all! Peace and Love, MH.”
Sounds like their love is… pure and innocent?? The age gap is pretty significant, so it’s no wonder it’s raising eyebrows, especially as comedian and actor Chris D’Elia was just this week accused online of soliciting nude photos of possibly underage girls, sexual misconduct, and more.
Dickey hasn’t commented specifically on any social media criticism in the last few days, but she did post this pic on her own IG page earlier this week:
Seems like good advice!
What do U think, Perezcious readers? Are you weirded out by the age gap here, is any relationship a non-starter considering how old they are?? Or can couples like this make it work, no matter the age difference??
Sound off with your take about everything down in the comments (below)!!!
