Guitarist John Frusciante To Rejoin Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nearly a decade after he left the band, guitarist John Frusciante is set to rejoin the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The band announced the news on Instagram, saying that Josh Klinghoffer is leaving the band after 10 years and Frusciante is back in.
“The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce that we are parting ways with our guitarist of the past ten years, Josh Klinghoffer. Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gift he shared with us,” the Chili Peppers wrote.
The band added, “We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining the group.”
This will be Frusciante’s third stint with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Frusciante had initially joined the band in 1988 after the death of original guitarist Hillel Slovak in 1988. He worked on their albums Mother’s Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik. He left the band and returned in 1998.
He then appeared on their albums Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium. Frusciante again left the band in 2009.
