Harvey Weinstein wanted Woody Allen’s help to take down Ronan Farrow
Harvey Weinstein turned to Woody Allen for help taking down the “Annie Hall” director’s son Ronan Farrow who was in the midst of reporting his blockbuster exposé on the Miramax producer, a new book claims.
In Farrow’s tome “Catch and Kill,” he alleges that Weinstein called his estranged father in fall 2017 in a bid to stop the reporting on his alleged sexual misconduct.
He wrote: “Weinstein seemed to want a strategic playbook — for quashing sexual assault allegations, and for dealing with me.”
“How did you deal with this?” Weinstein allegedly asked the director.
Farrow claims that the producer asked Allen to intervene, but that his father declined to get involved.
“Jeez, I’m so sorry. Good luck,” Allen allegedly said on the call.
Farrow alleges in the book that Weinstein used various methods, including hiring intelligence firms, to try to kill the New Yorker story about him.
Weinstein denied that he tried to collect dirt on Farrow and other individuals to hamper his reporting. “It is a fiction to suggest that any individuals were targeted or suppressed at any time,” his spokesperson, Sallie Hofmeister, told the New Yorker.
