Here’s Who Twitter Thinks May Take Over For Chris Harrison On The Bachelor

Chris Harrison has hosted The Bachelor and its multiple spinoffs since the franchise debuted nearly 20 years ago. But over the weekend Harrison announced that he’s “stepping aside” from his hosting duties “for a period of time” (via CNN), after defending current cast member Rachael Kirkconnell amidst the emergence of her past racist social media posts.

The next question is, of course, who will take over Harrison’s hosting duties? In a roundup of Twitter posts, Parade listed seven possibilities: JoJo Fletcher, Wells Adams, Ben Higgins, Ashley Iaconetti, Rachel Lindsay, Mike Johnson, and Jenny Mollen.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that it will actually be one of these seven, but they seem to be the most likely contenders. Parade noted that Fletcher has stepped in for Harrison before and knows how to handle hosting duties, but when the outlet polled readers, a clear winner emerged. As of Tuesday, February 16, 50 percent of readers picked Wells Adams.

Wells Adams wasn't interested in the gig as of last month

Prior to the emergence of Rachael Kirkconnell’s posts and Chris Harrison’s handling of the situation, there were rumors that Harrison was planning to depart from the series. According to the Daily Mail, the rumors began because Harrison was building a home in his native Texas, which would make for quite a commute if he planned to continue his Bachelor gig. In late January, it was rumored that Wells Adams would be his replacement.

“It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” Adams said at the time, according to The Daily Mail. “First of all, Chris isn’t going anywhere. He’s got the best job in Hollywood. Tom Hanks would agree that he has the best job in Hollywood.”

Would he change his tune now that Harrison is, in fact, going somewhere? In the same interview Adams described Harrison as “the cornerstone of Bachelor Nation” and added that he wouldn’t “wish that upon anybody trying to fill those shoes.” He did add that he enjoys playing co-host and bartender on the show, and it seems like Adams thinks he’s better-suited to that role, even if there is a new host.

So where does that leave us? Going back to the Parade poll, Fletcher and Higgins tied at 15 percent each, with Johnson receiving 11.5 percent of the vote, followed by Lindsay at five percent. Iaconetti and Mollen received one percent each. None of the other contenders have publicly commented, so only time will tell.
