Davina McCall, 54, is a breath of fresh air among the best of British celebrities, with her care-free attitudes to life giving us the motivation we need to be our best selves. And despite being in her 50s, she doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon – and why should she!
Do whatever you like. I plan to age disgracefully!
Davina McCall
It’s a new year, but the TV star has a lot on her plate, what with overseeing her Own Your Goals fitness app, filming episodes or The Masked Singer and bringing out her latest edit with JD Williams.
With all this going on, the fan-favourite presenter has stated she is ready to stop “giving a damn” about negative energy.
It comes after she faced social media backlash earlier this year for some of her outfit choices when she appeared as a judge on ITV talent show, after some viewers kicked up a fuss.
One garment that seemed to divide fans online was a low-cut white dress with a thigh-high slit.
Another that sparked controversy was a long, semi-translucent black frock.
Davina defended her clothes in an interview with The Sun, suggesting that some people really will “complain about anything”.
She said: “I have a line where I think, ‘I wouldn’t wear that, that’s too risky, or I don’t feel comfortable in it’.
“I just don’t think any of the outfits that I was wearing were that shocking. I didn’t think they were outrageous…”
She continued: “There’s always going to be a few people that complain about anything, about everything.
“Social media is so brilliant in so many ways, but it can be so destructive too.”
With this in mind, in a new interview, Davina revealed her plans for growing older.
Referencing 75-year-old fitness influencer Joan MacDonald as her inspiration, she told OK! Magazine: “People say you shouldn’t be weight training in your seventies – rubbish!

“You know, you shouldn’t let anybody tell you what you should and shouldn’t do.”
The mum-of-three added with grin: “Do whatever you like. I plan to age disgracefully!”
On the subject of fitness and body confidence, Davina explained she wants to avoid negatively impacting her children perceptions of themselves.
“I try not to even talk about their bodies,” she said.
“Even when I say to them, ‘Are you going to go out like that?’
“I’m talking in terms of getting cold rather than, ‘You’ve got to cover up your body.’
“We never talk about weight or weigh ourselves, it’s just not a thing. And in fact, because it’s not a thing, it has never been a thing.”
