Adam Henson, 54, has shared his delight at welcoming a baby calf to the Cotswold Farm Park today on Twitter, after one of his Highland cows went into labour. The Countryfile host divulged the newborn was a boy, who was doing well and would need to be “checked over” before joining the other animals on the farm.

Adam shared a video in view of his 61,000 followers of one of his calf’s giving birth, as the creature lay on its side during the live-streamed birth.

He typed underneath: “This was filmed over at the @CotswoldFarmPrk about 20 minutes ago… one of our Highland cows giving birth to Prince’s first calf with some help from Fran!

“We’re planning to bring the cow and calf into the barns and out of the rain – updates to follow.#highlandcow #livebirth.”

He later gave an update that the calf had been successfully delivered and was delighted to announce it was a boy.
