But, his joy was soon dampened as he received disgusting death threats from cruel trolls.

Speaking to Daily Star Jake shared his upset over the trolling as he said: “I’ve had nasty tweets from people saying things like, ‘I hope the baby dies’.

“I get stupid s*** like that. If people start trolling Sophie or the baby a lot, that is something I will have to get my head around.

“Unfortunately that’s the world we live in. You can get 100,000 lovely messages, but you’ll remember one nasty one.

“You think, ‘Why would they say that?’. I understand if people don’t give a s**t about my life. But they don’t have to comment on it.”

Jake, who is step dad to six year old Freddie, was also criticised on Twitter for being shirtless in photos with his newborn son.

One wrote: “Congrats & obviously the perfect time to have your shirt off”.

Another added: “When I was at the birth of both my children I’m sure I had a T-shirt on.”

While a third quizzed: “Why without your top on ?? Beautiful beautiful baby but spoilt by you sorry but it’s stupid”.

The new dad later hit back in a video as he filmed himself with his shirt off and his baby son laying on his chest with a blanket on top, in a clip he posted on his Twitter page.

He explained: “Just doing a bit of skin on skin. For all those people that don’t know what skin on skin is, who are ignorant enough to not know and think you just take your top off at the hospital, just have a little research.”

Moving on, he said: “But, he is the most incredible thing I’ve ever made. It’s not hard, I can’t even make spaghetti Bolognese so I don’t know how I’ve managed this.”

Jake was later urged by James Jordan, who has daughter Ella with wife Ola Jordan, to ignore the trolls.

James tweeted: “Jake, don’t let people ruin your family’s special moment Don’t even waste your time by showing them it bothers you as you are way too good for that mate Big love x”.

To which Jake said: “thanks buddy xx” alongside a red heart emoji.

According to the NHS skin on skin contact has a number of benefits including “helping your baby feel safe and secure” as well as “helping your baby recover from birth” and “keeps your baby warm”.
