James Whale, 69, took to his Twitter today as he condemned social media trolls who were “offended” by the way singer Adele had dressed mark what would have been the beginning of Notting Hill carnival. The radio host hit back at those who had claimed the singer was culturally appropriating black culture as she posed in a Jamaican flag printed bra and her hair styled in Bantu knots.

James wrote: “I was having a lovely Sunday until I heard all the rubbish about Adele.

“What on earth is going on have you lot who are offended by her dressing in a certain way.

“Got nothing better to worry about, I’ll be back on talkRADIO very soon.”

Underneath his fans weighed in on the growing debate surrounding the picture.

One commented: “If I have a curry is that cultural appropriation too?”

James responded: “Good point I couldn’t live without having a curry but I probably could ask a little over the top just goes to show the stupidity of some of these people what is the education system in this country doing?” (sic)

While another fan said: “She looks amazing celebrating another culture… these idiots want full segregation. Rosa parks, mandela, mlk did not do what they did for the BLM behaviour now that’s setting relationships and equality back decades.”

A third typed: “Ridiculous, why on earth does it matter? Why can’t anyone one wear what they like? It’s gone too far. We have some much injustice, poverty, abuse in the world and people concentrate on the dumbest things. It makes my blood boil. Get a grip and see the real crap going on.”

Adele originally posted a photo of herself on Instagram this morning showing off her tremendous weight loss in a sultry photo wearing just a bikini top with trousers.

The star wrote next to the image: “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London.”

It was not long before some fans began to criticise the carnival inspired look, as they deemed it inappropriate.

One said: “I love adele and all but this aint it sis, im seeing so much blacks and non- blacks having something to say and its all invalid because carnival was brought to the uk by Trinidadians during the windrush, cultural appreciation or appropriation or whatever i dont business because when carribeans were getting deported…did she speak out?” (sic)

Another replied: “You took it far with the Bantu knots. Just because you grew up In Tottenham does not make you entitled to appropriate our culture kmt.”

However, one follower waded in the argument by claiming that Adele was not appropriating but celebrating Jamaican culture on her huge platform in a positive way.

They explained: “You want black lives to matter, you want white people to stand by our side , you want equality ,yet here is Adele celebrating 2 cultures on a massive platform with no shame or discrimination in her heart and she is being ridiculed by the world!

“Make up your minds about what you want! This woman is born & raised London!! She has represented us on so many levels , Grenfell being one! Notting hill carnival and black culture has most likely been a huge part of her life! Let her love what she loves!” (sic)

The comments from James come after the star revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier this month.

In an interview with The Sun, James shared that after receiving the devastating news considered going to Dignitas.

However, he is now determined to fight the cancer which has spread to his brain, spine, kidney and lungs.

James had one of his kidneys removed 20 years ago when a tumour was discovered, he said: “This little b**tard has spread. It’s in my remaining kidney. I’ve got a couple of small lesions in my lungs.”
