K-Pop Fans Are Drowning Out Racist Hashtags With Their Fancams
K-Pop fans are drowning out the hate with love for their favorite artists!
With Black Lives Matter protests happening globally against systemic racism and police brutality as a result of the murder of George Floyd, a racist “White Lives Matter” hashtag has unfortunately become a byproduct of the moment for equality.
To tackle the influx of racist posts under that hashtag, K-Pop fans have united to post tons of fancams – clips of their favorite acts performing – to drown out the hateful messaging.
The campaign caught the attention of Twitter users, who cheered them on as they expanded coverage to hashtags like #WhiteoutWednesday, #MAGA and #BlueLivesMatter.
“LMAO I WAS READY TO INSULT THE S–T OUT OF EVERYONE, THEN I SAW THAT K-POP STANS ARE DESTROYING THE# DAMN NEVER THOUGHT I’D BE THAT HAPPY SEEING K-POP FANCAM ???,” one popular tweet observing the trend reads.
“Kpop fans are out in full force covering the horrible trending tags and I’m here ?? for ?? it ??,” another reads.
Here are some ways you can help out the Black Lives Matter cause.
