Kanye West Defends T.I. Over Hymen Drama, Says It’s ‘God-Approved’

We just couldn’t say goodbye to 2019 without another head-scratching moment from Kanye West, right?

While most of us had finally begun to put T.I.‘s gross comments about yearly trips to the gynecologist with his daughter to check her hymen behind us, the Jesus Is King rapper decided to bring them up again this weekend while celebrating the one-year anniversary of his Sunday Service in Los Angeles. And all we have to say is, why?!?

West visited the Union Rescue Mission homeless shelter on Skid Row in downtown El Lay for the special and final program of the year. Of course, ‘Ye’s massive gospel choir was in attendance and he used the grand opportunity to get a couple of heavy sentiments off of his chest.

Kim Kardashian West‘s husband began his spirited sermon by commenting on how difficult it is to express ideas that most of the general public might not agree with. He said:

“I ain’t telling nobody what to do. I’m expressing what I’ve been through, ’cause you know people learn to take a soundbite and say, ‘This was not exactly Devil-approved by the internet.’”

Then, he fired off a fierce defense of the controversial entertainer and his supposed God-given parental rights:

“We could be speaking on something that’s God-approved. Y’all know what I’m talking about. They tried to play T.I., but he’s talking about something that’s God-approved. It’s 30 states that still got the death penalty. Thou shall not kill. But, we be cool with that.”

Sigh. Here we go again conflating two completely different things to try and make a hollow point.

Here’s the thing, Kanye: can anyone, besides maybe a few other religious fanatics, really say violating a woman’s right to privacy or hijacking control of her body and personal choices is really God-approved? Can someone please Bible-check this dude, FFS?

Even lawmakers in parts of the country have acknowledged the practice isn’t right and have introduced legal action to help prevent these kinds of problematic virginity examinations from happening any more. Not to mention, the internet ruthlessly slammed the idea when it was initially brought up during TIP’s appearance on a podcast back in November.

How bizarre…

As we reported, T.I. has (thankfully) remained rather quiet on the subject since he publicly addressed it with Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk last month. Hopefully, the father of four will follow suit and drop the ridiculous idea ASAP.

While we’re on the subject though, it feels appropriate to ask: will Yeezy push the same principles on his daughters someday?

“Good” fatherly intentions aside, can we really imagine KKW being okay with something like this later down the line when the pair’s daughters, North West, six, and Chicago West, one, are of age?
