Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, 45, has spoken out about her friend and co-presenter Kate Garraway’s devastating time, while her husband Derek Draper continues his health battle in hospital. The ITV star, who has been supporting the broadcaster where she can, said she gave the host a special gift of “hope”.
It will grow some hope.

In a new interview, Charlotte, who presents alongside Kate, discussed how she has been there for the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner.
Kate and her children, Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, only recently had the chance to see Derek for the first time since he went into hospital in March.
The Classic FM host has now shared: “I wanted to show her that I was thinking of her so I sent her a rose called Growing Hope.
“She loves her garden and hopefully planting it will grow some hope for them.”
Charlotte went on to say: “It’s been a heartbreaking situation for her.
“I keep everything crossed that Derek is going to be okay.”
The radio presenter shared that while she has been there for Kate, she is longing to hug her, but is unable to due to the coronavirus distancing measures in place.
In the same interview in this week’s OK! Magazine, Charlotte said: “It’s been horrific for her and her family.
“She’s been going through such a tough time and she’s continuing to go through a tough time.”
The host then pointed out nobody knows what will happen regarding Derek’s health situation.
“We don’t know what’s around the corner,” she continued.
“Everyone at GMB is there for her whatever way she needs.”

Last weekend Kate decided to update her 938,000 Instagram followers as she said she is desperate for more “hope” for her family and her partner.
The Smooth Radio star penned: “‘Love Fear Hope’. Thank you so much to @youmagazine & the wonderful @joelvin for allowing me to share my family’s story over the last few weeks – I hope we can ALL get a lot more hope in our lives and look forward to seeing you all on @gmb this week and really looking forward to seeing my @smoothradio family too . @global.”(sic)
Soon afterwards, close friends and fans of the ITV favourite sent their best wishes to the family.
“Kate you’re such a beautiful person. Dignity and grace through and through,” one commented.
Another shared: “Praying for you and your family.
“You’re an amazing Lady Kate. Keep strong.”
Last month Kate confirmed Derek regained minimal consciousness but is still in intensive care.
